L’Épicentre is a truly collective undertaking, thanks in good part to the contributions of some 30 volunteers, including community residents and persons seeking to reintegrate the job market.
We are equally grateful for the participation of partner organizations such as Maison Benoît Labre, which shares many of its ressources with us, and the active support of our neighbourhood roundtable, Solidarité Saint-Henri (SSH), which for instance includes many organizations having participated in the pre-pandemic food security and autonomy committees.
As a new organization, the Épicentre receives coaching from community organizers at SSH, the CIUSSS and the Southwest Borough.

"I started volunteering for the Food Bank at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and I plan on coming to the Épicentre for a good while longer. I really appreciate the environment, it’s welcoming and filled with goodness, humanity, and empathy, all of which aligns with my values. When I joined the volunteer team, I was welcomed with open arms and felt in my place. The staff was present as it always is, ready to respond to my questions and guide me. I feel taken into consideration, appreciated, and heard by the other volunteers and the personnel. I’ve also had the opportunity to develop strong ties with the paid staff, enriching my volunteer experience. For me, the Épicentre, it’s more than just food aid, it’s a place to meet and exchange with people who have big hearts. In my view, that’s what makes the Épicentre so beautiful. So for all these reasons, I’ve become attached to this place and I look forward each week to making my contribution and giving back to my community.”
