The solidarity markets are the Épicentre’s oldest service, having been operated by other organizations and committees for almost a decade. The market is open to everyone, and its clientele is very diverse. The Épicentre began managing the service in the Fall of 2020. This seasonal undertaking (Summer and Fall) seeks to improve access to fruits and vegetables in the neighbourhood thanks to its proximity and exceptionally low prices. As a result of cooperation with non-profit producers such as Pro-Vert, we offer a wide variety of locally and organically cultivated vegetables. In this way, the project contributes to creating local food systems and consumption patterns that respect the environment, essential elements in the much-needed ecological transition of our society.
